I was alerted this morning by the owner of 1254 Commonwealth Avenue, Unit 17, Allston in a concerned email that her property had been posted to Zillow as a rental when, in fact, I have the Exclusive Right to Lease the property and did not post the listing to Zillow.
“Hello Jon, I got this listing last night, really surprised to see it. Is this your company? Are you aware of this listing?“
I’ve had to deal with scams and other nonsense on Zillow through the years and that’s part of the reason that I no longer syndicate my company’s listings to Zillow or any other third party site. I knew nothing about this listing on Zillow so I did some investigating. It turns out that a real estate broker named Paul E. Linder of Prestige Realty Solutions posted my listing to Zillow using Postlets. He even had the audacity to steal the photographs that I spent the time creating and posting to my listing. This practice is 100% illegal. I worked hard to secure the Exclusive Right to Lease 1254 Commonwealth Avenue, Unit 17, Allston.
Zillow, by the way, is completely guilty in this scam because it allowed the listing to be created. This is one of the reasons that I hate Zillow with the power of 1,000 suns. Zillow takes the money and absolves itself of any liability or responsibility.
I wouldn’t be so upset about these latest dealings with other real estate agents but I had the same issue with another one of my rental listings located at 757 E 7th Street, Unit 3, South Boston earlier this year. It turned out that another rental agent from Premiere Property Solutions had been stealing my listing using YouGotListings and Craigslist. I spoke with the real estate agent directly and then her office manager, Steven Schlom, but they weren’t helpful. I was thankfully alerted to that scam by Christopher Parnell of Ascend Realty Group, LLC who told me that Premiere Property Solutions was perpetrating the same type of scam.
I’m sure that the MLSPIN would like to know that Prestige Realty Solutions lists fourteen agents between two offices, one in Allston and one in Jamaica Plain, on its site but only lists two agents in its Allston office and doesn’t list its Jamaica Plain office at all on MLSPIN which is a violation of MLS Property Information Network’s Rules and Regulations.
This type of stuff has got to stop!!! Too many rental agents, especially in Allston and Brighton, think it’s the Wild West! It’s not!!!
